Professor Emeritus in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Civil Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Proud father of Martha, Alice, Joan, Carol, Susan and Janet and grandfather of four. Widower of Alice McGarry (deceased in 1971) and beloved partner of Norma Webb. GORDON, Richard Of Wellesley, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 67 years old. Born in England to the late Alan and Jean Gordon, Richard grew up in Montreal, Quebec, where he attended Lower Canada College and McGill University. Following his graduation from McGill, Richard spent his entire professional career with Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada (now Sun Life Financial). Richard is survived by his wife, Andrea (Newman) Gordon; children, Julie Law and her husband Johnathan of Wellesley, James Gordon and his wife Abby of Wellesley, and Peter Gordon and his wife Katie of New York, NY. Brother of Roger Gordon and his wife Linda of Toronto, Ontario and Donald Gordon and his wife Lisa of Victoria, British Columbia. He is also survived by his four grandchildren. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11am on Friday, April 5th at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Newton Lower Falls. Marsh, George Estabrook of Wellesley, passed peacefully at home on April 9th, at the age of 93. He was the son of Robert P. Marsh and Louise Estabrook Marsh of Springfield where he grew up with his late brother Robert P. Marsh. As a youth, he summered at Poland Spring with his grandmother Cynthia Ella Ricker Marsh, daughter of the founder of Poland Spring. In 1935, he was sponsored by law professor and Athletic Director Clarence “Pop” Houston through Tufts University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in Chemistry in 1940. After graduation, with wartime health deferment, he worked in the printing ink industry for Fuchs & Lang in New Jersey, then General Printing in New York City and Mexico City, joining Cabot Corporation in 1953. Working at Cabot in Boston and Frankfurt, Germany, he rose to Vice President, instrumental in development and success of Special Blacks Division, retiring in 1986. His leadership, passion, and ethics led to life long service commitments. He was an avid golfer from his early days, Tufts golf team, and long-standing member and leader at Wellesley Country Club. For 50 years, he was a Board Member at Franklin Square House in Boston, and co-founder of Franklin Square House Foundation funding housing for women and their families in eastern Massachusetts. He was an active board and committee member at Poland Spring Society, Tufts Alumni Council, and Houston Scholarship supporting student athletes. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Merrilyn Delano Marsh and three sons; Merrill Delano Marsh and his wife Gail Landry, grand step daughters Alex Collins Wight of New York, Madeline Landry, and Elizabeth Landry of North Yarmouth, ME; George E. Marsh Jr and his wife Sandra Henderson Marsh, granddaughters Kyle Delano Marsh and Eliza Lee Marsh of Essex, MA; Robert Houston Marsh and wife Lori Van Deusen Marsh, two grandsons, Nathaniel Houston Marsh and Patrick Spencer Marsh of Vienna, VA. Continuing his legacy and history, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Clarence P. and Henry C. Houston Scholarship, Tufts University, School of Arts and Sciences Development, 80 George Street, Medford, MA 02155. Services will be private, with friends and family reception to be announced.

BARRIE – Joseph Rollin, MD, of Harvard, MA died suddenly on April 8, 2013. Born on August 22, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, he attended Stuyvesant High School, received a Bachelors Degree in Science at Yale College, class of 1956, and graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1960. He completed his residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and served his country as Lieutenant Commander, Medical Corps, in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Saratoga. He established his medical practice at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA where he was an active staff surgeon from 1969-2004. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty one years, Christine Svenson Pilkington. Devoted father to John R. Barrie and his wife Caroline E. Barrie of Wellesley, MA and Susan S. Barrie of Rye, NH. Loving grandfather of James R. Barrie and Catherine J. Barrie. A memorial gathering for friends and family will be held from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28th at the home of John and Caroline Barrie at 15 Marvin Road, Wellesley, MA. MASSARD, Robert Louis of Wellesley Hills and Sagamore Beach, passed peacefully surrounded by family on April 25, 2013 at age 87 of congestive heart failure. He was the son of the late Frank L. and Ruth E. Massard, and brother of the late Richard Massard, and grew up in Ouray, Colorado. In 1943, he enlisted in the US Navy V-12 Officer’s Training Program and graduated in 1945 from the University of Colorado with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After serving in the Pacific, he received a Masters Degree in Electronics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology working on the Whirlwind Computer project. There he met Ann Connor, and discovered a life-long sweetheart. Bob was one of the engineer-founders of Computer Control Company (3C) in 1953, and started Financial-Technical Assistance (Fin-Tech) in 1969. He had a great interest in genealogy, published many volumes with The New England Historic & Genealogical Society and served as a Trustee of the Society. He and his wife enjoyed curling at Broomstones Curling Club in Wayland and he served as treasurer of the club for many years. Bob and Ann travelled extensively in Europe and the Caribbean. Some of their favorite family trips included visiting ancestral homelands of Ireland and Switzerland. He was the beloved husband of Ann Connor Massard for 63 years and father of Victoria McCormick (husband Stephen) of Shelburne Falls, MA; Pamela Tisch (husband David) of Cobleskill, NY; Gregg Massard (wife Valerie) of Sagamore Beach, MA and Wendy Hakken (husband Joel) of Ann Arbor, MI. Also survived by nine loving grandchildren: Erich (Alison), Emilie and Gretchen Tisch, Matt and Tim McCormick, Andrew and Julia Massard, Dillon and Darby Hakken. Funeral from the George F.
