The wife of the late Donald M. Santo, of Wellesley, she leaves her daughters: Susan Santo Laidlaw and Renee Patricia Heffernan of Dover, Mary Veronica Santo of N. Providence, Rhode Island; her son, William R. Santo of Westwood, and six grandchildren. Sister of the late John W. Brown. Mrs. Santo was born in Osakis, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Veronica Brown. She graduated from The University of Minnesota with a degree in social work and worked for Catholic Charities in Minneapolis before moving east with her husband and family. She belonged to St. Paul Church in Wellesley, where she served as a daily mass lectern and was a member of a Wellesley bible studies group. She was also active with the University of Minnesota Alumni Association. In Arizona, she played Tournament Bridge at the Briarwood Country Club. She also spent many years as a volunteer working one-on-one with at-risk high school girls to encourage them to complete their education. Funeral from the George F. Dreesen, Bernice “Bea” 84, died peacefully, on Wednesday Feb. 6, 2013. She was born in 1928 in New York City. She and her sister Sylvia were the children of Anna and Joseph Sachs. Bernice graduated from Bloomfield High School class of 1946. She then went to secretarial school, and became a secretary at Ketchum and McDougal in Roseland, New Jersey, where she met her first husband, Richard McFadyen. They lived in Montclair and then Essex Fells, New Jersey. After the death of her first husband, she married Ronald Dreesen in 1971. In 1980, they moved from Essex Fells to Bernardsville, New Jersey, where they lived out their days in the beautiful 250 year-old stone home they lovingly restored. Mrs. Dreesen was a past president of the National ALS Foundation in New York, and an active contributor to local historic preservation committees. She was a passionate supporter of the environment, a gardener and antique collector. She is survived by her son Richard McFadyen Jr,, and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Iris. Memorial services will be held at The Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church, 1 E. Oak St., Basking Ridge, New Jersey on Saturday, February 16 at 10:00 am.
